Ultrawideband
by jeff goldman on January 10, 2006

Okay, so the big news from MacWorld 2006 is the shiny new MacBook Pro, but via Gadgets on the Go, Wired News points out that MacWorld is also proving to be a phenomenal showcase for ultrawideband technology.
The Wired article goes into detail on the range of ultrawideband product announcements and demonstrations at MacWorld, including belkin's CableFree USB Hub and Gefen's Wireless USB Extender.
What's particularly interesting is that all of these products use Freescale Semiconductor's DS-UWB technology, which I and many others thought had all but lost the ultrawideband standards battle to the WiMedia Alliance's MB-OFDM solution. Now, it seems, the race is back on.
In the meantime, if anyone wants to buy me a MacBook Pro, I'll be happy with either model. I'm not picky.
