Unwiring Pune
Filed in archive Wi-Fi by jeff goldman on April 02, 2007

The Times of India reports that, starting today, Pune will be the first city in India to get citywide Wi-Fi (as well as, eventually, WiMax), leapfrogging larger cities like Bangalore and Hyderabad.
"The ambitious project, when complete, will enable people to access the Internet from anywhere in the city, without a cable, through their laptops or personal digital assistants (PDAs)," the article states. "Christened 'Unwiring Pune,' the project was jointly announced by global chipmaker Intel Corporation and Pune Municipal Corporation in March 2006 and will be kick-started on Monday."
