Gadgetell's Adam Berger looks at Verizon's announcement that it's offering a free "test drive" of its network to any new customer for 30 days.
"Customers will remain responsible for data services, application downloads, such as games, music or other V CAST services, applicable taxes on those services, 411 calls and certain Verizon Wireless surcharges but not for the contract length or the handset cost," Berger writes.
RCR Wireless News' Kelly Hill points out that this "seems to fit into a larger strategy of Verizon Wireless attempting a customer-friendly face; the carrier decided last year to pro-rate early termination fees."

Many online cell phone retailers already have some sort of "test drive" programs - you can test out the reception in your area. If not satisfied with the phone or reception, simply return or exchange for a new phone within 14 days.
