Verizon Wireless Gives Its Customers a (Tiny, Irrelevant) Gift...

Verizon Wireless proudly announced today that, starting next week, its customers will be able to change their voice and data plans without having to sign a new contract in order to do so.

"Verizon Wireless once again demonstrates that our number one priority is delivering the most customer-friendly wireless experience in the U.S. marketplace," boasts Verizon COO Jack Plating.

I got a “gift” from Verizon Wireless, consisting of 10 months of unauthorized billing charges for a “data service” plan I never knew about or used. When I called to request retroactive credits for this “service”, I was told that they could only credit me the last 2 months. Evidently, when I switched to the 700 minutes family plan, their software decided that as an owner of a Treo 650 I must have also wanted their “data services, too. The customer service manager said that I should have reviewed my monthly billing statements more carefully. Wow. Does he know that he is talking to an attorney? That doesn’t matter, apparently. Any body want a class action plaintiff for a lawsuit against Verizon Wireless? I think I am qualified. If not, it’s off to Small Claims Court I go. Disgruntled consumer in Granite Falls, Washington
