Wi-Fi Pay Phones in Moscow

GeekSugar today looks at the plan by Comstar UTS and the Moscow City telephone networklinks (MGTS) to install 200 Wi-Fi pay phones throughout Moscow.

As CrunchGear's Vince Veneziani explains, "Each phone will allow customers to pay via coins, pre-paid cards, sms-authorization, and MGTS phone cards. Apparently, you'll even be able to use these new phones to connect to a Wi-Fi network using your laptop."

Comstar CEO Eric Franke says the pay phones will make Wi-Fi available to users in public places "with no existing presence of Comstar UTS. We expect to double the number of hotspots every year in Moscow."

More here from RF Design ... more here from Wi-Fi Networking News ... and the press release is here.
