Two new posts on WiMax at iran
's TaliyaNews -- first, an article stating that WiMax is now available throughout Tehran, with plans to launch the service throughout the country soon.
Fariborz Nejad-Daadgar, executive manager of the company launching the service, says, "This technology has led to a revolution in global wireless telecommunications and is quite economical so that its expenses, compared to other wireless technologies and its broad usages for medium sized and large scale institutes, turn it to a highly practical project."
But according to the second article, Nejad-Daadgar later said the service is not currently affordable for individual users.
"Najad-Daadgar added in an interview with IRNA's IT reporter that the costs of using fast WiMax Internet are currently 2.5 to 3 time the costs of using fast ASDL Internet, that would add up to 450,000 rials ($45) per month in addition to an antenna that the user has to buy that costs 4,000,000 rials ($400)," the article states.
