Wireless Monitoring for Abdominal Aneurysms

Okay, so maybe it's a little hypocritical to mention a wireless medical device so soon after looking at a whistleblower case regarding a similar product, but KVOA Tucson's Erica Heartquist looks at a wireless device to monitor patients with abdominal aneurysms that's being used by surgeons at Arizona's Tucson Heart Hospital.
"I'm very grateful that I'm still on the green side of the sod, you know?" says 74-year-old Tom Normand, who was one of the first people in Arizona to have the device implanted.
"It's great. I mean, it's always very exciting to be able to offer patients new technology because the difference in the aneurysm repair is amazing," says surgeon Scott Berman.
According to Heartquist, 15,000 people in the U.S. die of abdominal
aneurysms every year -- the real test will be to see whether this device helps change that number.
