Wireless Security Spending to Increase by up to 20 Percent
August 31, 2007

Cisco this week announced the results of a study conducted by InsightExpress which found that a large number of companies are planning to increase spending on wireless security by as much as 20 percent next year. The study was based on interviews with more than 700 IT decision makers in the U.S., U.K., Germany, China, India, South Korea and Singapore. Key findings included the following:
- 55 percent of IT decision makers don't think the frequency of threats will decline
- 74 percent think security spending will increase over the next fiscal year
- 46 percent think security spending will increase by more than 10 percent
- 9 percent think security spending will increase by more than 20 percent
"These figures are significant, because a 20 percent increase in spending on security alone could represent hundreds of thousands to millions of dollars for mid-size and large enterprises," says Jeff Platon, Cisco's vice president of security solutions.
