Due to the downturned economy, businesses left and right are trying to come up with a way to reduce expenses while still maintaining maximum production. In an effort to do so, many have cut out free coffee, cut down on healthcare, or terminated employees. Before you make any rash decisions to fire half your staff in order to save a buck or two, consider going wireless.

When a business chooses to move out of the office and into the virtual realm, it is able to benefit both financially and operationally. A few of those additional perks include:

Less Overhead
When you don't have an office you don't have to worry about expenses such as rent, office furniture, office electronics, and items such as paper and staplers. Instead, all you have to pay for is hosting and cloud services, and all your employees have to do is make sure they have a good wireless router. These expenses are relatively cheap in comparison to rent and utilities, allowing you to focus excess funds on growth and expansion.

Greater Security
Using the cloud to store all files is much more safe than keeping all company files stored on a desktop. If that computer were to crash, you would lose essential business info that could set operations back for months, if not shut you down entirely. With cloud computing, your information is safe and secure, while still being readily accessible to all employee.

Happier Employees
No longer will you have employees trying to kill time with reverse phone lookup or Facebook. With a virtual office, employees are generally happier and more productive. They are able to work a little more on their own time and in a more relaxed environment which enhances productivity and overall employee morale.

So instead of letting staff go only to think that the other half is going to pick up the slack for the same price, consider turning your office into a virtual one. You don't want a mutiny. You want great employees that are going to deliver excellent work. You can still meet with your team in person at a local coffee shop or through a service such as Skype, and you can still enjoy great productivity from your employees. You're not losing your office per say, just the walls that were costing you so much.
